K-8 Summer Math Challenge

The K-8 Summer Math Challenge helps students stay sharp, confident, and ready for the new school year. Since 2016, thousands of students have participated, Alhamdolillah! Using Khan Academy, each child can learn at their own pace and strengthen the math skills that are crucial for academic success later in life.

Register for K8 Math Challenge by following these simple steps

Sign up @ Khan Academy

Create a separate Khan Academy account per child. Siblings each need their own account, they can’t share. Once student is logged into their Khan Academy account, move to Step 2.

Enter the class code corresponding to the grade the student is entering in Fall 2026.

Prize Criteria

Progress is measured by completion of the student’s grade-specific Khan Academy math course by September 30, 2026.

Update (July 1, 2026): Previously, Khan Academy shared each registered student’s Mastery Score with us. They now provide the number of skills mastered instead. We will use this to calculate each student’s mastery percentage, which will appear on the leaderboard.

Example: A student who has mastered 16 of 75 skills will have a leaderboard score of 21% (16 ÷ 75 = 21%). This percentage determines eligibility for the prizes below. Please note that it may differ from the Course Mastery percentage shown in the student’s Khan Academy account, which is calculated differently.

Frequently Asked Questions

My child already has a Khan Academy account from last year. Can they keep using it?

Yes — please do. Just make sure the username you enter on the registration form matches the existing account exactly. Using the same account preserves the child’s progress and badges from previous years.

Can siblings share a Khan Academy account?

No. Each child needs their own account so points and progress are tracked individually.

I don’t have my child’s member code. Where do I get it?

Contact your local Jama’at Finance Department.

I’m a returning participant. Do I need to register again for 2026?

Yes. Registration runs every year so we can confirm the child’s grade for the new school year and refresh the roster.

How are prizes determined?

By percent completion of the student’s grade-level Khan Academy math course by September 30, 2026: Gold for 100% complete, Silver for more than 80%, Bronze for 60–80%.

Can I change my child’s grade after registering?

Yes — email k8math@ahmadiyya.us with the child’s name and the corrected grade.
