Math Excellence Exam 2021


Eligibility

  • Only winners of the K-8 Summer Math Challenge 2020 (1st to 3rd prize) are allowed to participate in the following Math Excellence Exam. The list of winners of K-8 Summer Math Challenge 2020 is available here.
  • This Math Excellence Exam is only for students currently in grade 4-8.
  • There is no registration needed for this exam (please follow the guidelines and date/times on this website).

Rules and Format of the Exam

  • Students and parents are requested to ensure that the student solves the problem on their own. Furthermore no additional resources such as google, calculators, etc. are allowed to be used during the exam.
  • The exam questions are taken from Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary & Middle Schools.
  • For each grade separate exam questions will be prepared.
  • The duration for the exam will be 30min.
  • The exam will consist of 5 questions. Next to each question a score is shown, which can be used as an indication for the time required to solve the problem and its difficulty.
  • We will be holding 2 exams (dates and times shared below). Students are allowed to participate in one or both exams. The exam in which the student performed best will be used for the final ranking.

Submission

  • The solutions have to be submitted within 30min after the exam is published on this website. This google form should be used to submit the solutions.
  • For solutions which are submitted late, points will be deducted and in extreme cases will not be counted at all.

Prizes/List of Winners

  • The top 3 performers in each grade will inshAllah receive a medal, plaque or trophy
  • The list of winners will be announced here on 21th March 2021 or before.
  • The solution of the exam will also be shared after the exams here.

If you have any questions, please email k8math@ahmadiyya.us. We request to please email us well in advance of the exam to avoid last minute panic. It should not be expected that any emails sent of the day of the exam will be replied.

Winners

Only 198 students US wide were eligible to participate in the exam, as they received 1st-3rd prize in the K-8 Math Challenge 2020 and are currently in grade 4-8. 130 out of these students had completed 100% of the K-8 Summer Math Challenge 2020 and as such were prime contenders. The list of the 25 winners and their ranking is published here. BarakAllahHulakum!
